Our commitment as a Living Wage Employer
Vancity Community Foundation is proud to be a certified Living Wage Employer. This means we pay all our employees – and ensure our regular contractors are paid – at least the living wage for Metro Vancouver, as calculated annually by Living Wage BC.
A living wage is the hourly rate a family needs to cover basic expenses and participate fully in community life. By committing to this standard, we affirm that fair compensation is essential to building an equitable, inclusive economy where everyone can thrive.
Our commitment goes beyond wages. We advocate for systemic change to reduce working poverty and support policies that make life more affordable for all. Paying a living wage reflects our values of social and economic justice and strengthens our ability to serve communities with integrity and respect.
Open sharing policy
At Vancity Community Foundation, we believe that knowledge grows stronger when it’s shared. Whenever possible, we make our research, stories, tools and resources openly available so communities, non-profits and partners can adapt and build on them.
You’re welcome to use, quote or remix our publicly posted materials as long as you credit Vancity Community Foundation as the source. If something contains personal information, partner content, photography or our visual branding, we’ll let you know if special permissions are needed.
We aim to share information in ways that are accessible, useful and community‑centred. If you ever have questions about using or reusing our materials, please reach out – we’re happy to help.
VCF anti-fraud and anti-scam statement
At Vancity Community Foundation, the trust of our community is essential to everything we do. To help keep our donors, partners and communities safe, we want to ensure you have the information you need to recognize and avoid fraud and scams.
VCF will never:
- Ask for donations through unsolicited direct messages on social media.
- Request personal information such as passwords, banking details or SIN numbers.
- Ask you to send money to an individual account.
- Pressure you to act urgently, secretly or outside official channels.
If you receive a message, email, phone call or request that seems unusual or unexpected – even if it appears to come from VCF – please pause before responding.
How to stay safe:
- Only donate through the official VCF website or trusted partners.
- Be cautious of unsolicited emails, phone calls or social messages requesting information or money.
- Double‑check the sender’s email address and any links before clicking.
- When in doubt, contact us directly to confirm whether a request is legitimate.
Reporting concerns:
- If you believe you’ve encountered fraud or a scam involving Vancity Community Foundation, please reach out to us at vcf@vancity.com.
- You can also report suspected scams to the Canadian Anti‑Fraud Centre for additional support and guidance.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and trusted environment for everyone we work with and serve.
